The Yale Daily News Historical Archive offers access to digitized versions of the printed Daily News. The archival collection spans over 140 years of YDN reporting. The archive is open to the public and includes the full text of scanned issues as well as the index to those issues. The archive was made possible by an anonymous donation to the Yale Library in 2021.
Founded on January 28, 1878, the Daily News is America’s oldest college daily newspaper. The paper is financially and editorially independent from the University, but is committed to fostering discussion of topics of concern to students at Yale and in the wider community. The newspaper publishes Monday through Friday during the academic year and several special issues each year, including the Yale-Harvard game day issue and the Commencement and First Year Issue. The newspaper also publishes the weekly WKND and annual magazine ASCO Daily News, as well as a number of community supplements.
