Entertaiment is an activity designed to occupy or divert an audience from their daily activities, whether this be in the form of recreation or relaxation. Entertainment can be experienced passively, such as when watching a film or playing games, or it can involve participation such as ceremonies, celebrations or satire. Entertainment can be adapted to any size or scale and is constantly evolving, although the concept of fun and laughter is often associated with it.
Oliver and Barstsch (2010) describe entertainment as something that is understood objectively, encompasses communication between text and audience, is derived from external stimulus, off ers pleasure and requires an audience to exist.
